AMREF's mission is to improve the health of disadvantaged people in Africa as a means for them to escape poverty and improve the quality of their lives.

AMREF's mission is to improve the health of disadvantaged people in Africa as a means for them to escape poverty and improve the quality of their lives. Our mission determines that we work in specific priority intervention areas.

AMREF's Priority Intervention Areas (PIA) are Malaria, Urban Clinical Programs, Family Health, HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and STI Care, Health Education and Training, and Safe Water and Sanitation.

The AMREF mission is to be achieved by: developing, testing and promoting the adoption of s for improving health and reducing poverty; training and capacity building at all levels; and contributing to the development of an environment that enables health and wealth improvement. AMREF's mission determines that they work in six areas of focus, or Priority Intervention Areas (PIAs): HIV/AIDS, TB & ually Transmitted Diseases, Malaria, Safe Water & Basic Sanitation, Family Health, Clinical Services, Disaster Management & Emergency Response, Training & Health Learning Materials.

AMREF is the continent's leading health development organization. Respected by peer NGO's, research institutes and governments for its community and evidence-based approach, AMREF partners with institutions such as the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Harvard and Johns Hopkins Universities and Medical Institutes throughout the continent to achieve its goal.
