Mission Statement

Christians working together with partners to eradicate hunger and poverty and to promote peace and justice around the world.

Details

Church World Service aids people suffering from poverty, people suffering from HIV/AIDS, those in need of disaster relief, and refugee assistance by implementing the following programs:

  • Education & Advocacy: speaking out for those who can't.
  • Immigration & Refugee Program: empowering churches to show hospitality to strangers, that is, to immigrants, refugees, asylum seekers and other uprooted people in the United States and around the world.
  • Social & Economic Development Program: helps create pockets of education and innovation, enterprise and collaboration, powered by local ingenuity and nurtured by the self-respect that inevitably flows from it.
  • Emergency Response Program: helps the faith community play its special role in disaster mitigation, preparedness, and response.
  • Mission Relationships & Witness Program: Building partner relationships with regional and national ecumenical bodies around the world, as well as with our member communions in the U.S. to strengthen common witness among Christians and nurture interfaith dialogue and cooperation.
