The Rafiki Foundation
Official WebsiteMission Statement
Founded in 1985, the Rafiki Foundation aims to turn helpless children in Africa into godly contributors in their countries. Our focus is on orphans and other children in Africa who have been victimized by the AIDS epidemic. Our desire is to come alongside children and teenagers and build communities of hope, by establishing Rafiki Villages. Rafiki Villages will provide living and educational facilities in African countries where there are many orphans. The vision of the Rafiki Village is to support the community by operating vocational schools for teens, a home environment for orphans, and quarterly medical care for community residents. Rafiki Villages provide a Christian environment for young men and women to develop leadership and life skills that promote their physical and spiritual well-being.Details
Rafiki Villages are designed to care for children from infancy to age eighteen, raising them in a family atmosphere in Christian cottages and teaching teenagers vocational skills. Rafiki feels its most important job is to teach the children about Jesus Christ and living for Him. However, they also desire to give these children a quality education, skill training, and an appreciation of music, art, and athletics. Financial gifts to The Rafiki Foundation are used to pay for the facilities and supplies needed for the Rafiki Villages and to support the professional missionary staff and hired nationals who work in the Rafiki Villages. A Rafiki Training Village consists of eighteen homes for ten orphans each, schools for these orphans, vocational training day schools for vulnerable teenage s and boys, medical care for occupants, and facilities for training select African church denominations to replicate Rafiki's efforts.
